Some photographs stay with me for reasons that have little to do with technical quality.
This one was taken quickly, almost in passing, after I noticed the nest inside a house. There was no time to think much about settings or composition. I simply lifted the camera and tried to hold the moment before it changed.
The image is noisy, and photographically it is not one of the strongest. But there is something in the four young birds looking out from their rough little shelter that makes the imperfections easier to accept. Their open beaks, soft feathers, and slightly awkward faces give the scene a quiet tenderness.
It reminded me a little of the birds from Pixar — not because the moment felt staged, but because nature sometimes has its own small sense of character.
A quick picture, imperfect and unexpected. Still, it carries something I would not want to lose.
